Anonymous Telemetry

Inspect and control privacy-preserving Better Fullstack CLI telemetry.

status --json prints the effective state, saved preference, and environment override. The runtime override BTS_TELEMETRY_DISABLED=1 takes precedence over the saved preference.

Collected when enabled

Official CLI releases enable anonymous telemetry by default and show a one-time interactive notice. Preview builds disable it. A saved preference or BTS_TELEMETRY_DISABLED=1 always takes precedence.

  • bounded stack/capability identifiers and counts;
  • command/action state, success/failure, duration, and bounded quality counts such as conflicts, warnings, changed files, or manual-review items;
  • CLI/runtime version, OS family, CI boolean/provider, and invocation source;
  • a random anonymous install ID used only for unique, active, and repeat-use aggregates. Repeat use means activity on at least two distinct days in the measured 7- or 30-day window.

Never collected

Project names, filesystem paths, filenames, source code, recommendation briefs or prompts, env keys or values, secrets, URLs, runtime logs, raw error messages, and personal information are excluded at both the CLI and Convex ingest boundaries.

Telemetry delivery is best-effort, has a one-second network timeout, and can never fail a command. Programmatic create() disables analytics by default; CLI creation also supports --disable-analytics.

Browser analytics

The web builder uses a separate browser-local anonymous ID for bounded run/edit/ZIP outcomes. The same browser preference gates Vercel Web Analytics, Vercel Speed Insights, and the Convex product-event stream. Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control disable all three paths. Campaign attribution accepts only Better Fullstack's published campaign identifiers; arbitrary URL values are discarded.

Browser analytics preferences are unavailable in this environment.

Disabling browser analytics saves only the local preference in this browser. It does not affect CLI telemetry on the same machine. Browser analytics never transmit project names, project source or edits, filenames, runtime logs, URLs, environment values, prompts, secrets, or raw errors.
